Bi-monthly food and supply outreach โ partnering with eight sister churches to serve our neighbors in Newark.
No one should go hungry in this country, yet far too many do. The Bread of Life Ministry is our response. Participating with eight other churches in our classis, we seek to help our brothers and sisters of North Reformed in Newark provide some food, clothing, and personal hygiene items on Sunday afternoon for the impoverished in their community. With the traditional soup kitchens and pantries in the area closed from Friday evening until noon on Monday, this is a federally and state designated food desert on the weekends.
On the fourth Sunday every other month, after worship, we prepare 100 turkey and tuna fish sandwiches that are then packed up with dozens of hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, water, shelf-stable milk, protein bars, chips, cookies, pudding packs, personal hygiene kits, and more โ all of which we take to North Reformed and serve to those who might otherwise go hungry.
